
{"id":145,"date":"2010-03-01T23:15:16","date_gmt":"2010-03-02T03:15:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/connecticutelderlawblog.wordpress.com\/?p=145"},"modified":"2014-11-07T20:48:48","modified_gmt":"2014-11-08T00:48:48","slug":"title-19-long-term-care-services-allowed-assets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juliambrown.com\/wordpress\/title-19-long-term-care-services-allowed-assets\/","title":{"rendered":"Title 19 Long Term care services &#8211; Allowed Assets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Very few assets can be kept by the applicant and their spouse (the community spouse) in order to qualify for long-term care coverage under the Title 19 program.\u00a0 The following are the assets\u00a0they may keep:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The primary residence provided the community spouse lives there.<\/li>\n<li>An irrevocable, pre-paid Funeral Contract up to $5,400 for the applicant and spouse.<\/li>\n<li>A revocable Funeral Contract to cover burial space items for applicant and spouse.<\/li>\n<li>A Burial Plot for applicant and spouse.<\/li>\n<li>Term Life Insurance (<em>Must have no cash value<\/em>).<\/li>\n<li>Whole Life Insurance when the Face Value of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">all<\/span> policies is less than $1,500.<\/li>\n<li>One motor vehicle of any value.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The community spouse can keep one-half (1\/2) of any and all of the combined assets of the husband and wife on the date of institutionalization (DOI) up to a maximum of $109,560.00 (the spousal share).\u00a0 For example, if you have a total of $120,000.00 of non-exempt assets the community spouse may keep $60,000.00 and the applicant $1,600.00.\u00a0 If you have $300,000.00 of non-exempt assets the community spouse may keep the maximum $109,560.00 and the applicant $1,600.00.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Very few assets can be kept by the applicant and their spouse (the community spouse) in order to qualify for long-term care coverage under the Title 19 program.\u00a0 The following are the assets\u00a0they may keep: The primary residence provided the community spouse lives there.
