Reverse Mortgage\/Home Equity proceeds excluded"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Reverse Mortgage\/Home Equity proceeds excluded. <\/strong>CT Legislators just passed a\u00a0bill that allows those applying for or on\u00a0the CT Home\u00a0Care\u00a0Program for Elders to exclude\u00a0loan\u00a0proceeds from a reverse mortgage, home equity loan or other\u00a0loan instrument from\u00a0being counted as assets or income.\u00a0 After the DRA\u00a02005 these proceeds have been counted as income and many people\u00a0have not received home care services they need.<\/p>\n<p>Reverse Mortgage proceeds\u00a0allow many elders to stay at home by using the equity to pay for care not covered by the T19 program and to pay for costs to upkeep and maintain their homes.<\/p>\n<p>There are requirements about how to hold these assets and prohibitions against gifting them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reverse Mortgage\/Home Equity proceeds excluded.
